Appointments
Appointments are not necessary. You can walk in for service at any time during our business hours without an appointment at our Live Scan fingerprinting site in downtown Oakland. We do not close for lunch! In general, there is no wait time, but walk-in service is handled on a first come first served basis. The process takes only about 10 minutes.

Please bring at least one completed copy of the "Request for Live Scan Service Form" and a valid Government/State issued photo ID.

To check the status of your Live Scan fingerprint submission, wait a minimum of 7 days before making a status inquiry. Applicants should check first with the agency that requested the background review since the DOJ sends results directly to the applicant agency. If the requesting agency does not have results yet and digital Live Scan fingerprints were submitted, you can use the automated telephone system to check on your submission.

You will need the following information: (1) your date of birth; and (2) the 10-digit Automated Transaction Identifier (ATI) number that appears at the bottom of the Request for Live Scan Services Form.
